Gordon Burgin’s keen interest in mathematics led him to study Electrical Engineering at the University of Buffalo, NY, USA. His analytical skills were honed by his career in this field. In his spare time, he also taught System Analysis and Mathematics at college level in California. Upon retiring in England, he tutored at an American High School, working in a programme designed to assist underachieving students to reach university entrance levels of education.
There he recognised the benefit of mathematical and logic problems as a learning and education tool and started to develop his own maths puzzles to use as training aids. They proved to be popular not only with the students but also friends and family.
The collection of puzzles available in his puzzle books were created not only to help younger people develop basic logic skills that they need to progress in school and in life, but also to give the older puzzler the fun and satisfaction of an entertaining and beneficial challenge.
